Overview
The Supply Chain Canada National Board of Directors provides strategic oversight and governance leadership to advance the Association’s mission and strengthen the supply chain management profession across Canada.
Working in partnership with the President & CEO and senior leadership, the Board is responsible for guiding long-term strategy, ensuring financial stewardship, and representing the collective interests of members nationwide.
At the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on May 27, 2026, members will approve the Slate of Directors for the upcoming term. Through this Call for Expression of Interest, a minimum of two (2) Director positions will be filled. These positions are open to both members and non-members.
Serving on the National Board offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction of the Association and help shape the future of supply chain leadership in Canada.
What We’re Looking For
Director Competencies
The Nomination Committee is seeking individuals who demonstrate strong leadership capability and strategic judgment. Candidates should be able to contribute meaningfully to Board-level governance and long-term organizational direction.
We are particularly seeking experience and strengths in the following areas:
Strategic Insight
- Demonstrated ability to think critically about long-term direction
- Experience analyzing complex information to inform strategic decisions
- Capacity to challenge assumptions constructively and contribute innovative solutions
- Understanding of emerging trends impacting supply chain and business environments
Finance Experience
- Senior-level experience in finance or accounting
- CPA or equivalent professional designation preferred
- Ability to interpret financial statements and assess financial implications of strategic decisions
- Minimum five (5) years of relevant professional experience
Governance Experience
- Previous service on a board of directors (non-profit or for-profit)
- Participation in board committees (e.g., finance, governance, nominations)
- Experience in strategic planning, policy development, or regulatory oversight
- Strong understanding of fiduciary responsibilities
Additional Assets
While not required, the following qualifications would be considered strong assets:
Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation
Fluency in French, demonstrated through formal education, certification, or recognized proficiency
Duties & Time Commitment
Role & Responsibilities
Directors serving on the Supply Chain Canada National Board of Directors are responsible for providing strategicy governance oversight and acting in the best interests of the Association and its members.
Key responsibilities include:
Contributing to the development and oversight of the Association’s strategic direction
Providing fiduciary oversight and financial stewardship
Preparing for and actively participating in Board meetings
Serving on Board Committees as required
Upholding confidentiality and governance standards
Representing the collective interests of members nationally
Board Directors are expected to act objectively, exercise sound judgment, and contribute thoughtfully to Board deliberations. The Board operates with a collaborative decision-making approach and speaks with one voice.
Term of Office
Directors are appointed for a term of up to three (3) years, calculated from the Annual General Meeting at which they are appointed.
Board Directors may serve a maximum of six consecutive years. A Director is eligible to rejoin the Board after a three-year break.
Time Commitment
Board service requires a meaningful but manageable commitment:
Approximately seven (7) business days and three (3) weekend days per year for meetings
Equivalent preparation time for meeting materials and travel
Additional time for Board Committee participation (approximately four days per year)
Occasional electronic decision-making between meetings
Candidates must have employer support (if applicable) and be prepared to commit the necessary time to fulfill their responsibilities effectively.
